The 2009 Keystone International Livestock Expo (KILE) proved to be one of the best shows yet with 1,135 beef cattle, 1,450 sheep and 840 swine exhibited during the week.  We thank EMM Sales & Service, Inc., who sponsored the Supreme Champion in each species, including the year-long use of a new trailer for the Supreme Beef Female.

Nearly 1,200 horses showed during the week, and other equine highlights included the North American 6-Horse Hitch Classic Series Show and the Pennsylvania High School Rodeo.

Nearly 1,000 juniors participated in shows, judging contests and the Stockman’s Contest, and several livestock youth received scholarships.  The future of agriculture looks bright with so many young leaders expressing such keen interest in the industry.

The second year of the Keystone Classic Barbeque Contest and the PA Preferred/Weis Best Burger Grill-Off brought stiff competition.  Twenty grill masters participated in the barbeque contest, and five backyard grillers and two professional chefs grilled their best burgers using Weis’ PA Preferred beef.

Special thanks also go to key sponsors Fort Dodge Animal Health and KIOTI.

Mark your calendar for next year’s show, Sept. 27 – Oct. 3.
